Searching: Keyword vs Alphabetical List
You can either do a keyword search or browse an alphabetical
list to find the items you need.
Use keyword searching when:
- you only know part of a title, author's name or subject heading
- you want to combine search words from different parts of a record, i.e.
part of a title with author's last name or 2 subject headings
- you are trying to find a specific part of the contents: a song on music
CD, a short story in an anthology, or a song in a music book
Use alphabetical list searching when:
you want to browse a short alphabetical list of authors,
titles, subject headings, series titles or periodical titles
- you aren't sure what the title, author's name, subject heading is but you
know it starts with a specific word
This tutorial will explore keyword searching.
